Martha SzufnarowskiOrange County Coach Overview:Martha Szufnarowski – TriDivas OC Coach and USAT Certified Level 1 Coach Background and Experience: Way, way back in the day, I was a varsity athlete. I put aside sports when school ended, and eventually my health suffered. After having children, I gained weight and was low in general vitality. I joined a gym and started running a bit. Though racing 5ks was fun, running lacked the variety and purpose of competitive sports. A friend introduced me to triathlon - with lots of prompting! I borrowed a wetsuit, bought a cheap bike at a toy store, and hit the pavement running. After trying a mini-sprint distance triathlon, I was hooked. My current mission: convincing other women they can do triathlons! Now an avid triathlete, I compete in various distances of triathlons including Ironman 70.3, consistently placing in the top 10 for my age group (40-44!). I love doing road races, bike races, and swim meets to keep me motivated. Proving that you can still find adventure as you get older, I just fulfilled my crazy dream of escaping from Alcatraz to the San Francisco shore in an open-water swim called Sharkfest. In addition to coaching TriDivas, I am a certified USAT Level 1 certified Coach, personal trainer and I am an instructor for indoor cycling, yoga and resistance training. I believe the best programs for multi-sports athletes incorporate endurance, strength, flexibility, nutrition, mental training and fun! Coaching Philosophy: Goals: To inspire women to achieve more than they ever thought possible. To provide scientifically sound programs to train safely for triathlon. To motivate women to incorporate triathlon training and fitness into their busy lives easily. To witness the life-changing empowerment that women feel when they cross that triathlon finish line for the first time! |
